In a first again Odisha chief minister has shown foresight by calling upon all the states in the country to strengthen the federal spirit to combat the pandemic and help the concept of centralized procurement of vaccines.

Patnaik known for his lead roles played during the pandemic, this time he has demonstrated the positive arbitrary role for unity as far the battle is concerned.

Chief minister, Patnaik, in a letter shot to all the chief ministers in India has envisaged the significance of vaccine procurement through a single-window i. e the Centre as that will help vaccine mitigating the problems on that front which off late has appeared as a huge challenge in the face of all.

Patnaik has pioneered many steps since the outbreak of the Covid, by writing the letter and appealing all for reposition of faith on a centralized procurement to ward off apprehensions about distributions.

In a show of wider outlook, Patnaik has alluded to the magnanimity of the situation when safety for all states is of paramount importance.

“No state is safe unless all the states adopt vaccination as the topmost priority and execute in on a war footing” and he added in his letter that, it cannot be a battle among states to compete against each other to procure vaccine,” he said.

Right from the first outbreak of the Covid, he had shown the spirit for caution through care and lockdowns and shutdown and at times engaging himself with people for using foresight.

Even he was, perhaps, the first politician to say that, after the pandemic, “ the time can never be the same ever” and he has been proved correct as, as on date there seems the time really has moved from people and they have to be united to restore a semblance of normalcy.

He also advocated that since efforts by many states to procure vaccines have failed for the common reason that, all manufacturers have univocally echoed that, the deals can be through the Indian government, so it is the call of time that, centralized procurement may ease many problems.

Hence, Patnaik has a reason. When the domestic manufacturers are not able to commit required demands, under such circumstances, procurement should be by the Union government and the latter must lend the flexibility to the respective states to execute the ‘universal’ vaccination.

Even he has shown the concern for deep interiors and hilly regions where logging or internet, hence there has to be relaxed in that regard.

Patnaik, in a stoic note, has almost reiterated that after “independence struggle this is the biggest challenge” and he pleaded for setting aside all differences and support a spirit of cooperative federalism.
