Odisha cancels class 12th board exams, Students' lives more important exam: CM Naveen Patnaik

Announcing the cancellation of the examination, the Chief Minister said, "Life is more important than exams."

The Odisha government on Friday also announced the cancellation of the Class 12 board examination conducted by the Council of Higher Secondary Education (CHSE). Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has ordered to cancel the 12th examination given the pandemic situation. Announcing the cancellation of the examination, the Chief Minister said, "Life is more important than exams."

At the same time, the Board of Secondary Education (BSE), Odisha has also fixed the modalities for awarding marks to class 10 students. The annual High School Certificate (HSC), Madhyamik and State Open School Certificate examinations to be held from May 3 were also cancelled due to Covid-19.

According to the notification released by the Odisha Board on the official website, the final result of class X students will be prepared based on marks obtained in class IX and X. That is, in the result, 40 percent marks of class IX and 60 percent marks of pre-board, unit test etc. in class X will be added.

Apart from Odisha, Haryana, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra have also cancelled the 12th keyboard examinations.
