The Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) on Sunday finalised the schedule related to the yatra and festivities for the annual Rath Yatra to be held in Puri city of Odisha.

The Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) on Sunday finalised the schedule related to the yatra and festivities for the annual Rath Yatra to be held in Puri city of Odisha. The SJTA, in a meeting with the members of the Chhatisa Nijog (apex body of temple servants), has decided that all those, including the servitors, who participate in the rituals related to the Rath Yatra will have to undergo an RT-PCR test. This can also include people who have taken both doses of the Covid-19 vaccine.

All the programs related to Rath Yatra will be organized in the absence of devotees. Only servitors and officials associated with the temple administration will participate in the Rath Yatra.

SJTA Chief Administrator Krishna Kumar said the world-famous Rath Yatra will be held on July 12. The chariots of Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra, and Goddess Subhadra will be pulled to the Gundicha temple, which is about three kilometres away from the main temple on the day of Rath Yatra. The Rath Yatra will start on July 12 at 8.30 am and the process of pulling the chariots will start from 4 pm. After this, the three deities will be brought back to the main temple on 23 July.

Snan Purnima will start on 24th June with Pahandi at 1 am and will end by 4 pm. After this there will be a ritual of `Chhera-Pahanra`. Its timing has been kept at 10:30 in the morning. All the three deities will be given a bath. Puri Maharaja Gajapati Raja Dibyasingha will clean the bathing-place; later, the deities will be dressed in clothes and taken towards Anasara Ghar between 11 am to 12 pm. The Lord will be dressed in Gajanan Besa or Hathi Besa.
