Dengue grips Bhubaneswar into its clutches, 20 to 30 new cases being reported every day

The danger of dengue is now looming amidst the Covid-19 pandemic in Bhubaneswar. The city is recording 20 to 30 fresh dengue cases every day.

The danger of dengue is now looming amidst the Covid-19 pandemic in Bhubaneswar. The city is recording 20 to 30 fresh dengue cases every day.

BMC sources said that most of the dengue cases have been reported from Sailashree Vihar, Chandrashekharpur, Kalpana area and some other specific wards. The authorities have started a campaign to create awareness among people about cleanliness and the deadly disease.

Along with dengue, Bhubaneswar also tops the list in cases of Covid. Opposition parties BJP and Congress alleged that along with Bhubaneswar, the Health Department in the entire state does not have any plan to deal with this disease.

The government says that dengue is not a new disease for Odisha. All Chief District Medical Officers have been directed to take necessary steps to deal with the prevailing situation.

Symptoms of dengue:

  • The first symptom of dengue fever is high fever and chills.
  • Extremely low blood pressure.
  • Pain in muscles, joints, head and whole body.
  • Physical weakness, loss of appetite.
  • Rashes can also occur all over the body during dengue.
  • During dengue, high fever persists for 3-4 days, along with it there are complaints of abdominal pain and vomiting also starts.

Dengue is caused by four viruses DENV-1, DENV-2, DENV-3 and DENV-4. The virus enters the mosquito`s body when it bites an already infected person. At the same time, the disease spreads when the same mosquito bites a healthy person. The virus spreads through a person`s bloodstream.
