Odisha relaxes weekend shutdown in 3 cities for Independence day celebration, check detailed guidelines

In a notification issued by the Chief Secretary on Friday, it was informed that relief will be given in the weekend shutdown implemented in Bhubaneswar, Cuttack and Puri till 11 am on August 15 so that people can hoist the national flag in their premises.

Odisha government has relaxed the weekend shutdown in three cities for a few hours on next Sunday to celebrate Independence Day.

In a notification issued by the Chief Secretary on Friday, it was informed that relief will be given in the weekend shutdown implemented in Bhubaneswar, Cuttack and Puri till 11 am on August 15 so that people can hoist the national flag in their premises.

The government had announced the implementation of a weekend shutdown during the month of August in three towns to contain the spread of COVID-19. Not more than 10 people will be allowed to gather at one place to celebrate Independence Day in these three towns.

In other places also, citizens will hoist the tricolor in their premises, during which there will be a ban on the gathering of more than 20 people at one place. Along with this, people will have to follow Covid-19 SOPS.

The state and district level functions for hoisting the national flag will be organized as per the guidelines issued by the state home department. Government offices with not more than 10 employees in Bhubaneswar, Cuttack and Puri towns and with more than 20 employees in other places of the state cannot celebrate Independence Day
