Cancer patient cop among four killed in accident

Pradhan's wife, driver and his nephew Kirti were rushed to the Dhenkanal district headquarters hospital. Premamanjari and Dinesh died in the hospital, while Kirti's condition is stated to be stable.After the accident, the speeding truck overturned. Pradhan and his son died on the spot. His wife Premamanjari , 52, son Paresh, 23, and driver Dinesh Goswami, 55, died in the fateful accident, police sources said.SP (Dhenkanal) Basanta Kumar Panigrahi said Pradhan was suffering from cancer. After his checkup is over on Monday, he along with his family members started their journey to Burla in their car.

BHUBANESWAR: A cancer patient cop along with his wife, son and driver were killed in a road accident on Monday when a truck collided head on with their car on NH 55 near Nadhara village under Motanga police limits in Dhenkanal district, around 100 km from here.The incident happened while they were returning after finishing treatment of the cop in the SCB medical college and hospital at Cuttack The cop was identified as Pabitra Pradhan, 55, of Deogarh district. Pradhan was working as an assistant sub inspector in Burla police station. His wife Premamanjari , 52, son Paresh, 23, and driver Dinesh Goswami, 55, died in the fateful accident, police sources said.SP (Dhenkanal) Basanta Kumar Panigrahi said Pradhan was suffering from cancer. He normally visits the SCB for regular health checkup. After his checkup is over on Monday, he along with his family members started their journey to Burla in their car. At Nadhara, a Dhenkanal-bound truck suddenly hit their car and they died on the spot, he added.A total of five members were travelling in the car. Pradhan and his son died on the spot. Pradhan's wife, driver and his nephew Kirti were rushed to the Dhenkanal district headquarters hospital. Premamanjari and Dinesh died in the hospital, while Kirti's condition is stated to be stable.After the accident, the speeding truck overturned. Driver and helper of the truck fled from the spot. Police sent the bodies for postmortem and started investigation into the matter.
