Odisha aims to achieve export turnover of Rs 1 lakh crore by 2025

BHUBANESWAR: The state government has a vision to achieve an export turnover of Rs 1 lakh crore by the year 2025. Additional chief secretary MSME , L N Gupta said this at a seminar on 'Export Finance' organised here on Thursday.Gupta said the draft Odisha Export Policy, 2017, has been prepared. It will be in alignment with the Foreign Trade Policy of India, 2015-20, he added.He said the state policy will lay emphasis on promotion of exports both from the traditional and non-traditional sectors.The export turnover of the state, which was merely Rs 563 crore in 2001-02, went up to Rs 19,082 crore in 2015-16. It will be finalized soon after discussing with the relevant stakeholders. Further, it has risen up to Rs 40,872 crore during 2016-17 registering an increase of 114 per cent over the turnover of the year 2015-16.Gupta said the export turnover from the state will get further boost after operationalisation of Inland Container Depots (ICD) at Jharsuguda and Balasore and testing laboratories of the Marine Products Exports Development Authority.
