Book of Odia writer nominated for SIBF award

BHUBANESWAR: Popular children's writer Ramendra Kumar 's book 'A Tsunami Called Naani' has been nominated for the Sharjah International Book Fair (SIBF) Awards, 2017 in the 'Best International Book' category. "I am really happy that the book has been nominated for the prestigious award," said Kumar.The book is a tale of camaraderie and commitment and guts and gumption, laced with oodles of masti and chunks of humour. What makes the book an endearing read is the connect between the gen ex and gen next, he said.Kumar is an award-winning writer with 30 books to his name. A story-telling session on the book will be held at Bakul Library, Satya Nagar on Saturday. "The book is value driven but never preachy or didactic, its tone is sensitive but not maudlin, it takes up issues of concern without snapping the gossamer thread of humour," said Kumar.

His repertoire includes satire, poetry, fiction and non-fiction.
