Three of a family killed in road accident in Angul

Following the incident, the locals block the national highway by putting bodies of the deceased on the road. Due to the road blockade, several vehicles were stranded on the road from both the sides. BHUBANESWAR: Three members of a family were killed on Friday when a truck hit their motorcycle on national highway 49 near Kantala square in Palalahada area of Angul district, about 230 km from here. After local police and district administration officials intervened into the matter, locals cleared the road. Locals immediately rushed to the spot and found bodies of the deceased.

BHUBANESWAR: Three members of a family were killed on Friday when a truck hit their motorcycle on national highway 49 near Kantala square in Palalahada area of Angul district, about 230 km from here. The deceased were identified as Ditia Nayak, 55, his wife Chahata , 45, and 10-year-old daughter Kajal of Similipal village under Palalahada police limits in the district. They were going to Palalahada hospital to meet an ailing relative before the tragic incident occurred.Police sources said a truck suddenly hit Ditia's motorcycle from behind and the trio died on the spot. Locals immediately rushed to the spot and found bodies of the deceased. The Palalahada police reached the spot and seized the truck for causing the fateful incident. "We sent the bodies for postmortem. We registered a case and arrested driver of the truck," said Palalahada SDPO Jasobanta Samal.He said the man has six daughters, including three unmarried ones. Following the incident, the locals block the national highway by putting bodies of the deceased on the road. They demanded compensation to next of the kin of the deceased. Due to the road blockade, several vehicles were stranded on the road from both the sides."Ditia has six daughters. Besides the deceased, he has five others in his home. The government should help them to lead a dignified life," said a protestor. After local police and district administration officials intervened into the matter, locals cleared the road.
