PU rowers win 4 gold medals

GNDU rowers Jashanpreet Kaur, Gorjeet Kaur, Ramanpreet Kaur and Prabjot Kaur clocked 7:26.03 to win the silver medal. Punjabi University team of Jaspinder, Randhir Singh Gill, Arshdeep and his namesake clocked 5:50.01 to win gold in the coxless four competition. Meanwhile, in the men’s category, PU’s Jaspreet clocked 7:08.46s to win gold in the single scull competition. In the women’s single scull, Aishwarya Krishnan from University of Calcutta recorded 7:57.28s to win gold. She was followed by Keerthana TK of PES University in second place, while Sumapreet Kaur (8:00.45) of Punjabi University won the bronze.

Chandigarh, March 15 Panjab University rowers Monika and Alisha clocked 7: 39.90s to win the gold medal in the light weight women’s pair event of the All-India Inter-University Rowing Championship at Sukhna Lake here today. Jashanpreet Kaur and Gorjeet Kaur (8:04.18) of Guru Nanak Dev University (GNDU) finished second, while Akashdeep Kaur and Navreet Kaur (8:32.79) of Punjabi University Patiala claimed the third spot. The hosts Panjab University also topped the women’s coxless four event. The team of Alisha, Monika, Pooja and Shabnam splashed to gold in 7:03.1s. In the women’s single scull, Aishwarya Krishnan from University of Calcutta recorded 7:57.28s to win gold. She was followed by Keerthana TK of PES University in second place, while Sumapreet Kaur (8:00.45) of Punjabi University won the bronze. In women’s double scull, Punjabi University’s Sumapreet Kaur and Harmanpreet Kaur (7:30.77) won the gold, while Aishwarya Krishnan and Sanjana Ghosh (8:07.2) from University of Calcutta clinched the silver. Hosts’ Jaswinder and Pardeep Kaur (8:21.13) had to be content with the bronze medal. Meanwhile, in the men’s category, PU’s Jaspreet clocked 7:08.46s to win gold in the single scull competition. He then combined with Jaspal to win the men’s double scull even with a timing of 6:12.41. In the men’s pair competition, Mukesh and Amarjeet (6:47.17) of Kurukshetra University clinched gold, while Chandigarh University’s Parvinder Singh and Durlovejot Singh (6:55.03) bagged the silver. Punjabi University team of Jaspinder, Randhir Singh Gill, Arshdeep and his namesake clocked 5:50.01 to win gold in the coxless four competition.
