Illegal mining: JCB machine seized

Panchkula: The Panchkula police have seized a JCB machine in connection with illegal mining at Khetarpal village in Raipur Rani on Sunday. SHO Raipur Rani, Surjit Singh, said they had conducted a raid on the complaint of the Mining Department staff, but the accused fled from the spot. On the complaint of officials of the Mining Department, the police have also registered an FIR against unknown persons for illegal mining. The seminar was attended by architects from Haryana, Chandigarh and Punjab. The seminar was organised to discuss various problems being faced by architects and the wrong decisions taken by the Haryana Government against the public interest.

A case was registered under Sections 188 (disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant) and 379 (theft) of the Indian Penal Code and Sections 21(4), 4(1) and 4(1) A of the Mines and Mineral Act in the Raipur Rani police station, he added. TNS Seminar for architects Panchkula: The Indian Institute of Architects (IIA), Chandigarh, Punjab and Haryana Chapter, organised a seminar titled "Architecture at Crossroads in Haryana" at Gymkhana Club, Mansa Devi Complex, Panchkula, on Sunday. The IIA has strongly opposed the Haryana Government's decision to allow construction of fourth storey on existing houses, thus, endangering the entire structure of old houses which were built for maximum three storeys. The seminar was attended by architects from Haryana, Chandigarh and Punjab. Hyderabad-based architect DT Vinod Kumar and Patna-based architect Shyam Kishore Singh were the guest of honour. This programme was supported by Unistone Industries and Raunaq Sales (India). The seminar was organised to discuss various problems being faced by architects and the wrong decisions taken by the Haryana Government against the public interest. TNS
