The Syndicate will take a call on the matter on May 26. The case Fee hike for foreign students proposed Tribhuvan Ram, officiating principal of MR Government College, Fazilka, had forwarded his recommendation to appoint Rajinder Paul Singh as the centre superintendent and Sheenam and Renu Bala as the assistant centre superintendents through Senate member Munish Verma for the 2014 annual examinations. All three persons, who are not employees of the college, were shown as assistant professors working in the college and were deputed on the exam duty on April 1, 2014. According to the rules, only teaching staff can be recommended by the principals for such duties.A Panjab University committee has recommended fee hike for foreign nationals, people of Indian origin and non-resident Indians by 5 per cent from 2018-19 session. The hike has been recommended for both new and current students. The PU Syndicate will take the final call in this regard on May 26.
