INTERNATIONAL YOGA DAYKaram PrakashTribune News ServicePatiala, June 21People of Patiala celebrated the fourth International Day of Yoga with enthusiasm on Thursday. The participants performed various yoga postures following the instruction of yoga gurus. Yogis at Patiala ClubSociety for People’s Welfare & Awareness Patiala, along with Polo Ground Friends Club, celebrated International Yoga Day at Patiala Club. As many as 40 trainees from Punjab Jail Training School Patiala, and 1,500 inmates of Central Jail Patiala also participated in the camp. People from various backgrounds, accompanied with their families, participated in the yoga sessions, performing the Surya Namaskar, Pranayama, various yoga postures and breathing exercises.

INTERNATIONAL YOGA DAY Karam Prakash Patiala, June 21 People of Patiala celebrated the fourth International Day of Yoga with enthusiasm on Thursday. A special mass yoga demonstration was held on the premises of Thapar University in Patiala where people from different walks of life participated. Hundreds of yoga enthusiasts gathered to flex their body. Deputy Commissioner Patiala Kumar Amit, along with yoga enthusiasts, performed yoga postures at one hour-long event. The event was jointly hosted by the Department of AYUSH (Yoga and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homoeopathy), Patiala, and district administration. Addressing the event, the Commissioner said the discipline of yoga helps to maintain a healthy and beautiful life. “Yoga not just connects humanity with spirituality but also connects human beings with each other. It contributes in seeking truth and knowing self,” Kumar Amit said. The participants performed various yoga postures following the instruction of yoga gurus. Sportspersons also participated in yoga demonstrations. People from various backgrounds, accompanied with their families, participated in the yoga sessions, performing the Surya Namaskar, Pranayama, various yoga postures and breathing exercises. The participants during the prgramme pledged, not only to celebrate the day in a symbolic form but to adopt yoga as the way of life for the well being of body, mind and soul Jail inmatescelebrate Yoga Taking a big leap forward towards reformation of inmates and to encourage them to inculcate Yoga in their daily routine, a state-level yoga camp was also organised by the Department of Prisons & Correctional Services Punjab at Central Jail Patiala. Rajan Kapur, Superintendent Central Jail Patiala, along with other senior police officials also attended the yoga camp. As many as 40 trainees from Punjab Jail Training School Patiala, and 1,500 inmates of Central Jail Patiala also participated in the camp.
