Two more carjacking accused in police net

He was declared brought dead at Anandpur Sahib hospital.Senior superintendent of police (SSP) Kuldeep Singh Chahal said three teams were formed to crack the case. Sources said the two caught on Sunday were identified as Sanju, a resident of Moga, and Varun, a resident of Ratangarh, Morinda.

MOHALI: Police have arrested two absconding men involved in the gunpoint carjacking on the Kharar-Banur road that ended with the death of one of the five accused in a police encounter near Naina Devi on Saturday.Police also recovered the Ritz car used by the carjackers from Ropar-Nawanshahr highway in the early hours of Sunday. The five carjackers came in the white Ritz car near Landran T-point and snatched a Hyundai Verna car at gunpoint from a Sector 166 resident. Two of the accused were arrested on Saturday. Police also recovered the Hyundai Verna car. Sources said the two caught on Sunday were identified as Sanju, a resident of Moga, and Varun, a resident of Ratangarh, Morinda. One of them was driving the Ritz car.Meanwhile, the post-mortem of Sunny Masih, who was shot dead in the encounter, was conducted at Bilaspur civil hospital. The autopsy report revealed Sunny had sustained two bullet injuries, one in kidney area and other in abdomen. The bullet ruptured vital body parts like kidney and spleen because of which Sunny died at the spot. He was declared brought dead at Anandpur Sahib hospital.Senior superintendent of police (SSP) Kuldeep Singh Chahal said three teams were formed to crack the case. The SSP said, “We connected the CCTV footage of various toll plazas between Mohali and Anandpur Sahib in which white Hyundai Verna is visible crossing over and heading towards Anandpur Sahib. One of our three teams reached Naina Devi and caught the carjackers.”
