Chandigarh: Dubai flier caught with 64,500 Euros

Navjeet Singh, 37, a resident of Nawanshahr was to board a Dubai flight when he was caught. On examination of his checked-in baggage, DRI seized the foreign currency concealed in a newspaper kept in lower bottom of the baggage. Sources said the passenger had not declared the possession of foreign currency prior to boarding the flight. MOHALI: The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) on Monday arrested a passenger after 64,500 Euros (Rs 50.76 lakh) was recovered from him at the Chandigarh international airport. Navjeet works as salesman in a chemist shop and was to deliver the currency to a person in Dubai, said sources.Sources said passengers have to declare the amount of foreign currency by filling the Currency Declaration Form (CDF).
