AAP leaders meet governor, demand inquiry against top cops

CHANDIGARH: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leaders on Tuesday submitted a memorandum to Punjab governor V P Badnore, demanding an “impartial inquiry against top cops , including Suresh Arora DGP and SSP Rajjit Singh, allegedly for their complicity with drug mafia in the state”.The memorandum submitted by a group of party MLAs, led by Leader of Opposition Sukhpal Khaira, said, “Alarming reports of top police officers having deep connections with drug mafia in Punjab have emerged during the last few days. Unfortunately, despite such glaring evidence of complicity of the said police officers with drug cartels, the Amarinder Singh government has turned a blind eye to the nefarious nexus, merely to protect and shield its blue-eyed officers.”It added that affidavits filed by STF on drugs and the SIT constituted by the Punjab and Haryana high court have pointed a clear finger to the nefarious role of SSP Rajjit Singh, DGP Arora DGP and DGP Intelligence Dinkar Gupta, for their links with dismissed inspector Inderjeet Singh for running a massive drug scandal in Punjab.“Thereafter, another sensational disclosure made by the said inspector, Inderjeet Singh during, his interrogation by the STF last year, revealed that as SHO Taran Taran he used to pay then SSP Rajjit Singh a monthly (sum) of Rs 10 to 12 lakh earned out of drug money.
