Panchkula: Drunk youths harass woman, thrash hubby

PANCHKULA: A group of 12 youths drinking openly at a parking lot in Sector 25 market thrashed a 33-year-old man after he objected to them passing lewd remarks at his wife and niece.Sandeep Singh, 33, a resident of Police Lines, Panchkula, said they had gone to a store in the market to purchase some household goods around 7.30pm. The accused later fled.Police registered a case under Sections 148 (rioting, armed with deadly weapon), 149 (every member of unlawful assembly guilty of offence committed in prosecution of common object), 323 (punishment for voluntarily causing hurt), 506 (punishment for criminal intimidation) and 354 ( assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty) of the IPC.
