Chd: Cong leaders pay tributes to Rajiv Gandhi

CHANDIGARH: A public meeting was organised by Chandigarh Congress at Manimajra on the occasion of the 74th birthday of late prime minister Rajiv Gandhi. Former Union minister Pawan Bansal said that they paid their respect to Bharat Ratna Rajiv Gandhi , Father of Computer Revolution, for implementing the Panchayati Raj system.Addressing the public, Pawan Bansal said that due to the vision of Rajiv Gandhi, India is top on the digital world. “City MP Kirron Kher has not been able to do even one percent of the development, which happened during the tenure of Pawan Bansal," Chhabra added. Women have been given 33% reservation in local bodies and panchayat during Rajiv Gandhi's tenure.Chandigarh Congress president Pradeep Chhabra said that Rajiv Gandhi gave the right to vote at 18 years of age and said he remembers how Rajiv decided the age of 21 for contesting elections. "He said that thousands of houses are made for poor during the tenure of the Congress government and the same have not been still handed over to the poor people.
