CHANDIGARH: In the run up to PUCSC polls, a heated argument ensued between SFS leader Harman and ABVP's Harmanjot Singh Gill over hostel admission of a student. The university security reached the spot and pacified the men. During the argument, Harman said it was sheer hooliganism on ABVP's part to take away the hostel form of a student from the SFS member. On this Gill asked "how does the question of hooliganism fit here?".SFS member Kanu Priya alleged that ABVP's Shashi Ranjan took away the hostel form of a student which Priya was holding to help him out. Ranjan, however, claimed that he was unaware of the fact that Priya is an SFS member and his sole intention was to help the student."The student who needed help with hostel accommodation hails from Jharkhand and I met her on an e-rickshaw today. She was given Hostel No.10 where the fee is Rs 3,500 and thus was looking for a cheaper hostel. When the first-year student asked me about the DSW office, I took her form and asked Harman (ABVP) to help her immediately. Since DSW was not in the office, I returned the form to her. As soon as the dean came, I rushed to get her form. I did not know that another student holding her form was an SFS member. So, I took her form quickly only to help her so that the issue could be resolved today," said Ranjan. However, Harman of SFS said that the ABVP member took away the form from SFS member deliberately to score brownie points by getting her hostel changed.
