Soon, wireless panic buttons at bus shelters

The MC is planning to construct new bus queue shelters which at present is in shambles.MC will also construct toilets adjoining to the bus queue shelters for which the civic body will float the tenders soon. The civic body will also allow the company to construct and maintain the bus queue shelters by putting up advertisements. All such bus queue shelters will also have CCTV cameras. Giving information about the wireless panic buttons, MC commissioner Rajesh Jogpal said that the municipal corporation, Panchkula, is testing the installation of wireless panic buttons in Sector 10, 15 and Industrial Area Phase Il, Panchkula.Under the wireless panic button system, a set of two to three buttons each will be installed in two bus queue shelters, two shops, two public parks and two industrial units. The wireless panic buttons will be in three different colours — Green (ambulance), Red (police assistance) and yellow (fire assistance), said Jogpal.Jogpal added, “The web dashboard will be commissioned in the control room in Sector 14 police station where the alerts and notification will be received in real time. Also, a standalone WiFi siren alarm unit shall be installed in the police station.”The panic buttons at commercial and industrial establishments will be paid by the owners but the ones at public places will be free and paid by the MC, informed Jogpal. While divulging over the plans to construct such bus queue shelters, Jogpal said that the MC will construct 60 such bus-queue-shelters across the city with approximate cost of Rs 5 lakh per shelter.He added, “The step is being taken to curtail the eve teasing activities at such places. Secondly, for the last few years bus queue shelters were neglected in city and residents have been demanding to construct new shelters. So, we have decided to construct new state of the art shelter.”While further explaining the features of new bus queue shelters, Jogpal said that safety of the people will be further strengthen as the civic body also plans to install CCTV cameras at every bus stand which will be monitored at the police control room. “We will catch miscreants in action to nab them,” said Jogpal.He also added that the MC also has plans to construct 30 toilets adjoining bus queue shelters. “All such toilets will be constructed at a cost of Rs 8 lakh per toilet,” said Jogpal.
