CHANDIGARH: The operations cell of the Chandigarh Police arrested a drug peddler with 15 grams of heroin from Daria on Saturday night, the second drug peddler to be arrested in two consecutive days.Police produced the accused in a local court, which sent him in judicial remand.Pawan Kumar, DSP, operations cell, said the accused has been identified as Sandeep Kumar, a resident of Daria. The DSP said a police party was patrolling to keep a check on anti-social elements in the area. As the police party reached near the cremation ground in Daria, the accused was coming on foot towards the police party. As the accused noticed the cops, he changed his way and tried to escape. On suspicion, police caught the accused, who tried to throw a plastic packet from his pocket. Police seized the plastic packet and found heroin inside it.The accused during interrogation revealed that he used to sell heroin to drug addicts for Rs 3,000 to Rs 3,500 per gram to the drug addicts in the city. Police produced the accused before a local court, which sent him in 14-day judicial custody on Sunday.On Friday, the crime branch had arrested Geeta Devi , 42, a resident of Burail village with 1 kg ganja and 24 banned injections from near Dev Samaj College in Sector 45. The accused was sent to jail after producing before local court.
