Robbers go on stabbing spree at midnight, held

CHANDIGARH: A man employed in the Punjab and Haryana high court canteen and a roadside dhaba worker went on a robbery-stabbing spree in the city on Monday night, targeting two persons within a few minutes before cops ended their run.Karan Kumar (21), a resident of Kaimbwala, and Saurabh Kumar (21), a resident of Kansal, zeroed in on Arun Kumar, an ice cream vendor, first. Rohan Kumar, a resident of Kaimbwala, told police that his father Arun was returning home after selling ice cream around 12 midnight. As he reached near the petrol pump in Sector 7, the accused waylaid him. They took away his purse after stabbing him. A PCR (police control room) vehicle rushed Arun to PGI. Rohan provided the half registration number of the motorcycle of the accused to the cops. A PCR vehicle reached the spot and found Shekhar V Pujari, a resident of Kishangarh, who worked at Swagat, an eatery, in Sector 26, lying in a pool of blood. Pujari was returning home on his cycle when he was attacked and robbed of his purse. Sanjay, who was also going with Pujari, said he tried to save him, but fled towards Sukhna Lake Teams of Sector 26 police station and operations cell cordoned off the area and launched a search operation. Within a few minutes, police arrested Karan and later Saurabh. Police recovered a sharp-edge weapon and motorcycle from them.
