Local bodies poll results to be declared on Saturday

Counting of votes cast for zila parishad will also be done at these counting centres. She said 14 tables have been set up at Derabassi Government College and 16 tables have been set up at Polytechnic College, Khoonimajra. Identity cards have been issued by returning officers.”Sapra said 1,74,355 voters cast their votes for the local bodies in Mohali district. Nobody will be permitted at counting centres without proper identity cards.

MOHALI: Deputy commissioner-cum-district electoral officer Gurpreet Kaur Sapra said votes cast for zila parishad and block samitis on September 19 will be counted at centres set up at Khoonimajra and Derabassi in Mohali on September 22.Sapra said for Kharar and Majri, different counting centres have been established at Polytechnic College, Khoonimajra, whereas for Derabassi, a counting centre at Government College, Derabassi, has been established. Counting of votes cast for zila parishad will also be done at these counting centres. Counting of votes will be started from 8am onwards.She said, “All the requisite arrangements have been ensured in this regard. Nobody will be permitted at counting centres without proper identity cards. Identity cards have been issued by returning officers.”Sapra said 1,74,355 voters cast their votes for the local bodies in Mohali district. Out of these 93,973 were male and 80,382 were female voters.Sapra said at these counting centres, 46 tables have been set up and 184 officials will count the votes. She said 14 tables have been set up at Derabassi Government College and 16 tables have been set up at Polytechnic College, Khoonimajra. Similarly, to facilitate counting of votes in Majri, 16 tables have been set up at Polytechnic College, Khoonimajra. Entire counting process will be completed under strict monitoring of the concerned returning officer.Deputy commissionercum-district electoral officer Gurpreet Kaur Sapra said all liquor shops and vends will be closed within 1kilometre of counting centres. Also liquor will not be served in hotels, restaurants, clubs and marriage palaces. Storage of liquor will also be prohibited. During this SSP Kuldeep Singh Chahal said requisite security arrangements have been ensured around counting centres. More than 600 police officers and officials will perform their duty and nobody will be allowed to disturb law and order in the district.
