MOHALI: Police on Friday registered a case of murder against unidentified persons after the highly decomposed body of a 16-year-old girl was found from a farmhouse located near a housing society in Zirakpur on Thursday evening.Police suspect Rasnpreet Kaur, a resident of Lohgarh, Zirakpur, was murdered somewhere else and her body thrown from outside the farmhouse, which belongs to one Prem Singh.Police said the girl was missing since September 17. She had gone for her tuition class, but never returned. She was taking tuition from a teacher living in Paramount Housing Society. Police said her family member identified her from her clothes, spectacles and slippers lying near her body.The victim studied in Class X in a private school in Zirakpur. She is survived by her parents and two brother.Karnail Singh, a former serviceman, said his daughter used to take tuitions from a teacher living in Paramount Housing Society. On September 17, she had gone for her tuition at 4 pm and returned after two hours. After 15 minutes she again left for the tuition class, but never returned, he said. Around 6 pm on Thursday, the family came to know from residents that Zirakpur police had found an unidentified body. Assistant superintendent of police Harman Hans said, “The victim had stayed for a short while at her tuition class. She had then left for someplace else.” “On Thursday evening, the owner of the farmhouse informed us about the body after his servant spotted it,” he said.The cause of the murder is yet to be ascertained. Sources said the post-mortem could not be conducted at Derabassi civil hospital as the body was badly decomposed. Doctors sent the body to Patiala medical college for the autopsy.
