NSUI, INSO to boycott student council polls

PANCHKULA: Confusion prevailed throughout the day at Government College, Sector 1, Panchkula and Kalka College, a day after student council elections was declared by the Haryana government after 22 years in the state. Principal of Government College, Sector 1, Dr Archana Mishra, said, “We have formed committees to look into every aspect of the student council elections. NSUI and INSO have decided to hold a protest rally on Friday to make their voice heard.Students of Government College, Sector 1, have been campaigning since morning. Party members of INSO, NSUI and Akhil Bhartiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) were seen campaigning with stickers of their parties on their shirts. However, in the evening, National Student Union of India (NSUI) and Indian National Student Organization (INSO), took a U-turn and decided to protest against the state government and demanded to hold direct elections instead of indirect.

Throughout the day, party members were seen campaigning in colleges. However, in the evening, National Student Union of India (NSUI) and Indian National Student Organization (INSO), took a U-turn and decided to protest against the state government and demanded to hold direct elections instead of indirect. NSUI and INSO have decided to hold a protest rally on Friday to make their voice heard.Students of Government College, Sector 1, have been campaigning since morning. The students were happy with the decision of student council elections after a gap of 22 years.Rohit Lohan, ABVP worker, said, “The government has given a chance to raise our voice against various facilities given to us in colleges and we are happy with the decision.”NSUI worker, Pankaj Yadav, said, “The students have been asking for elections for a long time now. We have started campaigning in college and will raise our voice in favor of the students”. INSO worker Pankaj Panwar, said, “Our party has always fought for the rights of the students and we will continue this in this election as well.”Meanwhile, some of the college students said that they are unaware of the elections and how to go about it. But if their issues would be resolved with the elections, they are happy with it as the college authorities has failed to listen their demands. Principal of Government College, Sector 1, Dr Archana Mishra, said, “We have formed committees to look into every aspect of the student council elections. All the procedures will be followed to hold peaceful elections in colleges.”
