(Source: File/PTI) Amid former Punjab chief minister Parkash Singh Badal’s efforts to resolve infighting between Chautalas, Ajay Chautala has asked all MLAs to attend a meeting of the state executive committee of INLD, called by him in Jind on November 17. However, Abhay Chautala’s faction has termed the meeting “unconstitutional”. Ajay Chautala faction is likely to take disciplinary action against his opponents in the party during Jind meeting, if the differences are not resolved in the political family by then. In a letter to the MLAs, MPs, former MLAs, MPs and office bearers of the party units, including state executive, on Monday, Ajay has asked them to attend the meeting. In the letter, Ajay has introduced himself as Secretary General of the INLD, however, party spokesperson Praveen Attrey has claimed that he is Secretary General of the state unit. “As per the party constitution, only state president (Ashok Arora) or national president Chaudhary Om Prakash Chautala has the right to call a meeting of the state executive. Any person authorised by Chaudhary Om Prakash Chautala has also the right to call the meeting, however, Ajay Chautala has not been authorised for the same. So, the Jind meeting is completely unconstitutional,” said Attrey on Monday. Recently, Abhay had also called a similar meeting. Currently, four out of total 18 MLAs of INLD have come in open support of Ajay and his son Dushyant. State INLD president Arora Monday also went to meet Ajay at his farmhouse in Delhi in an attempt to resolve the ongoing turf war in the family. “I urged him to resolve the family matters as it’s will of lakhs of party workers and well-wishers,” Arora told The Indian Express. On the other hand, Badal, whom Chautalas term as eldest member of the family, has been making efforts to resolve the crisis. Badal had started talking to Ajay before Diwali on the issue. Ajay has been stating that they will obey whatever direction Badal gives them like “they have been following always”. Following Badal’s intervention, Ajay and his younger brother Abhay met in New Delhi Sunday to resolve the differences. It’s learnt that Abhay was hurt because of some comments of his elder brother, but sources, close to Ajay, say that Abhay was later pacified. When contacted, Dushyant expressed ignorance regarding the efforts being made to resolve the matter, just adding Badal had blessed them on the occasion of Diwali.
