Chandigarh: Ahead of PM visit, V P Singh Badnore inspects EWS category flats

Chandigarh Administrator V P Singh Badnore on Tuesday reviewed Chandigarh Housing Board’s Rehabilitation scheme in Maloya, under which 4,960 flats were constructed for slum dwellers. The rehabilitation scheme is being executed by the Chandigarh Housing Board (CHB). The flats constructed have one room and are for EWS people. Badnore, along with senior officers of UT Administration, reviewed the completed work as Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to visit the site next month and hand over the keys to the dwellers. A total of 18 colonies have been identified by the administration, whose inhabitants are to be rehabilitated inflats constructed under Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM).

Badnore, along with senior officers of UT Administration, reviewed the completed work as Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to visit the site next month and hand over the keys to the dwellers. ”Before taking the exact date from the PM, the administration wanted to review if anything else needs to be done at the site,” an official of the board said. The flats constructed have one room and are for EWS people. Their construction was completed in 2016 but several works, which were to be provided by the MC, like-setting up sewerage treatment plant,water supply, parks and various other amenities, had not yet been completed. A total of 18 colonies have been identified by the administration, whose inhabitants are to be rehabilitated in flats constructed under Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM). The rehabilitation scheme is being executed by the Chandigarh Housing Board (CHB).
