2 car-borne men steal batteries of 12 vehicles

"In the morning, I found one of the doors of the jeep open and locks damaged. CHANDIGARH: Two car-borne miscreants stole batteries from 12 cars in Sector 30 in the small hours of Thursday. Industrial Area Phase-1 police reached the spot and collected footage of CCTV cameras installed in the area. Police suspected that the accused might be motor mechanics as they were breaking the locks very swiftly. When he checked, he found its battery missing.Shiv Kumar Sharma of house number 1313 said he had parked his Thar jeep outside his house on the pavement.

CHANDIGARH: Two car-borne miscreants stole batteries from 12 cars in Sector 30 in the small hours of Thursday. The accused came in a silver grey Honda City car and targeted the vehicles, most of which were Maruti 800s parked outside houses.They also stole batteries of a Thar jeep, a tempo and an Innova. Industrial Area Phase-1 police reached the spot and collected footage of CCTV cameras installed in the area. On the complaints of residents, police have registered a theft case. No arrests have been made in the case so far.Baldev Singh, a resident of house number 90-B, Sector 30, reported that he was going to his car workshop in Sector 48 motor market when he noticed that the bonnet of his Maruti 800 car was open. When he checked, he found its battery missing.Shiv Kumar Sharma of house number 1313 said he had parked his Thar jeep outside his house on the pavement. "In the morning, I found one of the doors of the jeep open and locks damaged. The bonnet of the jeep was also open and its battery was missing," he added.Chandan Kumar of the same sector said he had bought a tempo four months ago and the thieves stole its battery after breaking the locks of battery box.SHO of Industrial Area Phase-1 ZP Khan along with a police team reached the spot and recorded the statements of vehicle owners.The station house officer said the CCTV cameras installed in the area have captured two men, who appeared to be in their mid-30s, coming in a Honda City car around 2am and taking away batteries.The duo was not masked. The cameras have captured the face of one of them. Police suspected that the accused might be motor mechanics as they were breaking the locks very swiftly.
