Woman held for duping jeweller of over Rs 3L

After buying the jeweller, the accused said that she didn’t have cash with her and would pay the jeweller the next day. However, the manager refused.Then, both the parties agreed on accompanying the woman to her house to get the money and the store manager went along. She said she would file a case rape and molestation against them if they came asking for money again. On this, the jeweller filed a complaint at the Sector 17 police station and arrested Jaspreet on Friday night.Balbir is still on the run and efforts are on to arrest her, cops said. The jeweller was cheated of Rs 3,21,000.The complainant then asked the accused to pay them back, but the latter threatened him and the manager saying that she has links with gangsters and cops at high posts in the city.

CHANDIGARH: A woman from Kharar has been arrested, while her aide is on the run, for duping city-based jeweller of Rs 3.21 lakh.The accused has been identified as Jaspreet Kaur, who along with her aide Balbir Kaur bought several gold anf silver ornaments from the jeweller, but gave him a cheque that was dishonored by the bank.When the complainant, Akhil Jain of Nikka Mal Babu Ram Jewellers in Sector 22, asked for the money, the Jaspreet threatened to implicate him in a false harassment cases claiming to have contacts in the police department and high links with politicians in Punjab.Jain stated in his complaint that both the women had come well dressed and posed as the owners of Amar Cloth House. After buying the jeweller, the accused said that she didn’t have cash with her and would pay the jeweller the next day. However, the manager refused.Then, both the parties agreed on accompanying the woman to her house to get the money and the store manager went along. On reaching her house in Kharar, the woman handed over a cheque to the manager and the latter returned to the store.However, when the cheque was deposited at the bank, it was dishonoured as the account didn’t have sufficient balance. The jeweller was cheated of Rs 3,21,000.The complainant then asked the accused to pay them back, but the latter threatened him and the manager saying that she has links with gangsters and cops at high posts in the city. She said she would file a case rape and molestation against them if they came asking for money again. On this, the jeweller filed a complaint at the Sector 17 police station and arrested Jaspreet on Friday night.Balbir is still on the run and efforts are on to arrest her, cops said.
