Kashmiris stay put in rooms, cops assure safety

PANCHKULA: Around 20 Kashmiri students, studying in a private college in Panchkula did not come out of their rented accommodation in Barwala since February 16. All ACPs and SHOs of the district have been directed to facilitate and make all Kashmiri residents feel safe in the district," said deputy commissioner of police Kamaledeep Goyal. "Younus told the TOI that a team of Panchkula police visited their home and assured to keep them safe. "My friends and college colleagues are helping me sail through these uncertain times," said Stethy, a resident of Jammu, who is studying in Panchkula. We attended our college today and found everything normal," the students added.

PANCHKULA: Around 20 Kashmiri students, studying in a private college in Panchkula did not come out of their rented accommodation in Barwala since February 16. The students on Wednesday met cops, who assured them security.As per the group of Kashmiri students, most of them who want to talk on anonymity basis told TOI that "Fear groped us after the Pulwana terror attack news broke, and hate against J&K residents started spreading," the students said.One of the student, Younus, studying BSC in nursing from a private college, said, "We are confused and afraid. We do not know what public can do to us. We have decided to not leave our accommodation till everything is fine."Younus told the TOI that a team of Panchkula police visited their home and assured to keep them safe. "This has boosted our confidence. We attended our college today and found everything normal," the students added."My friends and college colleagues are helping me sail through these uncertain times," said Stethy, a resident of Jammu, who is studying in Panchkula."We haven't received any complaint from any Kashmiri. All ACPs and SHOs of the district have been directed to facilitate and make all Kashmiri residents feel safe in the district," said deputy commissioner of police Kamaledeep Goyal.
