Ambala, July 12 A local singer was robbed of his Honda City car at gunpoint here in the wee hours of today. The police said when the singer offered resistance, the armed robber fired a gunshot before fleeing away in the car. The victim, Ashwani Mehra, told the police that the incident took place around 3 am when he came to a dhaba near the bus stand in Ambala Cantonment. “Around 11 pm, I, along with two of my friends, Sanjeev and Rahul, had dinner at the Sher-e-Punjab dhaba near the bus stand in Ambala Cantonment. When I came back to the same dhaba around 3 am after dropping my friends at their residence in Mahesh Nagar, an armed youth, who appeared to be in his mid-twenties, pounced on me and tried to snatch my car keys,” Mehra said. He told the police that when he resisted and entered into a scuffle with the miscreant, the robber pulled out a pistol and fired a gunshot into the ground before forcibly taking away his car. He said important documents, including an Aadhaar card, PAN card, ATM card, voter identity card, car papers and Rs 1,500 were lying in his car. The police have registered a case under Section 392 of the Indian Penal Code and Sections 25, 54 and 59 of the Arms Act against the unidentified robber.
