The CHB had launched a two BHK flat scheme in 2016. Under it, the price of a flat was fixed at Rs 69 lakh. Gupta said three BHK flats are easily available between Rs 60 lakh and Rs 70 lakh in Mohali and Panchkula. The allottees have been given the time till December 31, 2020, on the lines of a scheme launched in 2017.

CHB all set to launch its costliest housing scheme in Sector 53 soon Ramkrishan Upadhyay Chandigarh, July 12 If you are waiting to buy an affordable house under a housing scheme to be launched by the Chandigarh Housing Board (CHB), think twice. The cost fixed by the CHB is all set to give you a shocker. Sources said the board had fixed a price of Rs 1,79,91,000 for a three-bedroom (BHK) flat, Rs 1,47,08,000 for a two BHK flat, Rs 94,67,000 for a one BHK flat and Rs 50,11,000 for a one BHK (EWS) flat for the housing scheme to be launched in Sector 53 soon. The new prices fixed by the CHB are the highest in the tricity. The CHB had launched a two BHK flat scheme in 2016. Under it, the price of a flat was fixed at Rs 69 lakh. Officials have placed the new rates for approval of the board. A meeting in this regard wil be held next week. The sources said the CHB had justified the high rates saying that the tentative figures had been calculated on the basis of the approved cost of land at the rate of Rs 74,131 per sq yard. An officer of the board said since the scheme would be on a self-financing basis, the land rates would be charged on the collector rates. Kamal Gupta, president of the Property Consultants Association, Chandigarh, has termed the prices unreasonable. Gupta said three BHK flats are easily available between Rs 60 lakh and Rs 70 lakh in Mohali and Panchkula. Relief for CHB allottees The Administration has decided to reintroduce the scheme under which allottees are allowed to continue with the additional construction for the time being after paying penal charges and thereafter remove the non-permitted violations. The allottees have been given the time till December 31, 2020, on the lines of a scheme launched in 2017. With the announcement, owners who have made additional construction in their CHB dwelling units have got temporary exemption from demolition, subject to the payment of penal charges. The decision will also help allottees of Sector 41, who have been served demolition notices by the housing board.
