Shift to ground floor, P’kula coaching institutes told

However, owners of coaching institutes met officials of the Haryana Shahari Vikas Pradhikaran for seeking a month’s time to shift their institutes or make some alternative arrangements so that the studies of the students do not suffer. Confirming the same, Estate Officer Ashutosh Rajan said representatives of the coaching centres had met him and had sought a month’s time. The District Town Planning Department has been directed to see if the Chandigarh Administration has given any such approval. He said earlier, tenants were replying to their notices, but after the resumption order, owners of the hotels sought two-week time for removing the illegal construction.

He said: “They have been given a month’s time and no further extension will be given to the institutes.” Hoteliers seek regularistaion Meanwhile, the hoteliers, who have been given notices for removing illegal construction on rooftops, have urged the HSVP to regularise the construction on the pattern of the Chandigarh Administration. The HSVP has now asked the State Town Planner to submit a report if there was any such provision in the zonal plan. The District Town Planning Department has been directed to see if the Chandigarh Administration has given any such approval. The owners of the hotels, who had been served notices under Section 17/4 of the HUDA Act, 1977, for removing the illegal construction on rooftops, have urged the HSVP that they had purchased the land for hotels at very high rates. The HSVP had earlier issued notices to several hotels, including Prabhat Inn, Western Court, KC Crossroads, Shiraj and Escape Bar, for illegal construction on the roof of the hotels. Rajan said: “Hoteliers are seeking regularisation of rooftop constructions. We have directed the District Town Planner to examine the hotels in Chandigarh and see whether any such approval had been accorded by the UT Administration.” Rajan said they had issued resumption order under Section 18/1 of the HUDA Act, 1977. He said earlier, tenants were replying to their notices, but after the resumption order, owners of the hotels sought two-week time for removing the illegal construction.
