Philanthropist donates 20 wheelchairs to PGI

Tribune News ServiceChandigarh, July 13Well-known philanthropist Harbhajan Kaur donated 20 wheelchairs for the Advanced Trauma Centre of the PGIMER today. Harbhajan Kaur, along with her husband Iqbal Singh, handed over the wheelchairs to Prof Jagat Ram, Director, PGI. Harbhajan Kaur said: “Gurbani teaches us, ‘kirat karo, naam japo and wand ke chhako’. I am of the conviction that the Almighty has assigned us some duty to make our lives worthwhile. This will give us peace, which no material possession can ensure.”Harbhajan Kaur has also been felicitated by the PGI for her commendable social commitment and compassionate service for the cause of needy patients.

Chandigarh, July 13 Well-known philanthropist Harbhajan Kaur donated 20 wheelchairs for the Advanced Trauma Centre of the PGIMER today. Harbhajan Kaur, along with her husband Iqbal Singh, handed over the wheelchairs to Prof Jagat Ram, Director, PGI. Others present on the occasion included Prof AK Gupta, Medical Superintendent and Head, Department of Hospital Administration, Prof Ashok Kumar, Acting Nodal Officer, ROTTO, Dr Navin Pandey, Dr Raman Sharma from the Department of Hospital Administration and other senior functionaries of the institute. Expressing his gratitude, Prof Jagat Ram said: “It seems charity is innate to the Singh family as they have been so magnanimously contributing to the Poor Patient Cell of the PGIMER in assorted forms be it donations in money, medicines or treatment for the ‘not so privileged’ patients for the past 10 years.” “Considering the patient load in the trauma centre, this noble contribution towards strengthening medical infrastructure of the PGI will immensely help in facilitating mobility of the patients with restricted mobility and thereby, alleviating the pain and unnecessary fatigue,” he said. Harbhajan Kaur said: “Gurbani teaches us, ‘kirat karo, naam japo and wand ke chhako’. I am of the conviction that the Almighty has assigned us some duty to make our lives worthwhile. There will never be scarcity if all of us share his abundant gifts with others.
