Patiala, July 14 Following the continuous heavy rain over the weekend, the Government Rajindra Hospital here, as always, was inundated with water, here on Sunday. Rainwater entered various corridors, and wards of the hospital; consequently, the hospital staff and patients had a hard time. At Jan Ashudi Centre, inside the hospital, the entire corridor was flooded with water and patients had a tough time buying medicines from the store. The people indie the hospital were seen wading through ankle-deep water. Moreover, there was around foot-deep water in the parking, causing inconvenience to the visitors. Even the Medical Superintendent office was also flooded with rainwater. X-Ray department, emergency ward, Medical Superintendent Office, were worst affected. In fact, some wards of the hospital couldn’t be accessed. Inundation, in fact, is one of the natural hazards — every year, in the monsoon season — the Rajindra hospital has to face. However, authority, seemingly, not interested in taking proactive measures — every year. Cleaning out all drain basins and water exit system, experts said, should be updated before the season starts. Medical Superintendent Rajan Singla said, “In the hospital premises, there are a lot of trees around the building. The fallen leaves block the drainpipes – resulting in flooding. I will ask the officials concerned to immediately remove the leaves.
