Some residents, including Jaswant Singh, Om Parkash, Jeewan Singh Dalit Singh and others, say, “The colony is waterlogged as the Municipal Council has failed to make proper arrangements for the draining of rainwater.” “Guru Nanak Colony is situated on the Badala road in Ward No. 26 of the Kharar Municipal Council. Despite repeated requests to the Municipal Council no action has been taken to drain rainwater from the area,” they said. “As the colony is near the railway line a lot of water accumulates here during the rainy season, but the MC has made no proper arrangements for its disposal,” they added. “We have constructed our houses after getting maps approved from the Municipal Council, but no basic amenities have been provided in the area,” they said. “I constructed my house in 2010 after getting the map approved by the MC and paid all the charges to the civic body, but no facility has been provided to us,” said Jaswant Singh, a colony resident. “Foul smell comes from stagnat rainwater. We have urged the adminstration to flush out rainwater from the colony,” he added. — OC
