The police have procured the CCTV footage of the area and are scanning it for clues to identify the suspects, who were not known to the victim, according to her statement. The incident came to light after the victim approached the police saying that she was in a trauma after the incident and could not muster courage to report the matter. The girl, along with her uncle had, gone to meet her ailing friend in Zirakpur. When they were returning home, three men in a car stopped them to inquire about someone. The victim said when her uncle refused, the suspects thrashed them and bundled them into the car. The victim alleged that one of the suspects, who were reportedly three in number, raped her in a moving car and later on dumped her, threatening her not to inform anyone about the incident. The police, who have no clue about the suspects, are solely led by the description provided by the victim. “Meanwhile, doctors at the Community Health Centre (CHC), Dhakoli, carried out the medical examination of the victim and handed over its report to the police. The report is being examined,” a police officer said. A woman investigating officer said vaginal swab samples of the victim had been sent to Forensic Science Laboratory in Mohali for further examination to verify the allegations of sexual abuse and exploitation by the suspects. A senior doctor at the CHC said the victim was in a trauma. She could not muster courage to tell about the incident to them during her medical examination. Gurcharan Singh, SHO, Zirakpur, said the police had already registered an FIR in this connection, adding that they were looking for the CCTV footage near the crime spot to get leads. He said the police were working on various theories and have also written to the RTA office in Patiala to get the required details about the registration number of the vehicle used by the suspects.
