Mishap toll 4, Innova driver arrested

The police have arrested the driver of the Innova. When they reached Saket near Bir Ghaggar, a rashly driven Innova (HP15 D 4848) hit their vehicle from the rear. Chandimandir SHO Naveen Kumar said the rashly driven car hit the bike first, killing its rider on the spot. Later, the driver lost control of the Innova, which hit the railing on the NH and then rammed into an auto, which turned turtle.

Panchkula, July 23 Three more youths succumbed to their injuries today, taking the death toll to four in yesterday’s accident near the toll plaza here in which an overloaded auto-rickshaw was hit by a rashly driven Innova. The four deceased have been identified as Rakesh, a resident of Pinjore, who was riding a bike and was declared brought dead at a hospital yesterday, and Rahul, Chanderpal and Ashok, all residents of Gaushala Colony in Pinjore, who succumbed to their injured today. Nine injured youths were referred to the PGI, where three victims succumbed to their injuries. The condition of the other injured is stated to be critical. Police Commissioner Saurabh Singh, DCP Kamal Deep Goyal, Additional Deputy Commissioner Uttam Singh and Sub-Divisional Magistrate, Panchkula, Mamta Sharma immediately reached the spot and supervised the rescue operation, besides shifting the injured to the Civil Hospital. The police have arrested the driver of the Innova. He has been identified as Inderjeet, a resident of Surajpur in the district. Sunny, one of occupants of the auto-rickshaw, in his complaint to the police, stated that he, along with 18 boys, including Deepak, Vipin, Mahender, Akash, Shiv, Sanjay, Shankar, Ashok, Nipu, Vijay, Ajay, Sumeet, Ajit and Rahul, had left Pinjore in a three-wheeler (HR-68B 2818) for Haridwar to collect holy water around 8.30 pm yesterday. He said the three-wheeler was being driven by Nipu. When they reached Saket near Bir Ghaggar, a rashly driven Innova (HP15 D 4848) hit their vehicle from the rear. He said the three-wheeler turned turtle, causing injuries to all occupants. People gathered at the spot and took them to the Civil Hospital, Sector 6, for treatment. Chandimandir SHO Naveen Kumar said the rashly driven car hit the bike first, killing its rider on the spot. Later, the driver lost control of the Innova, which hit the railing on the NH and then rammed into an auto, which turned turtle. All occupants of the auto are natives of Moradabad in UP and live in Gaushala Colony, Pinjore. Naveen Kumar said a case had been registered against the Innova driver.
