PUTA elections: Incumbent president recounts ‘achievements’

Tribune News ServiceAugust 18, ChandigarhPanjab University Teacher’s Association (PUTA) president Rajesh Gill on Sunday said that over the last two years PUTA had worked to force authorities to withdraw several measures detrimental to teachers’ interest.
Gill was speaking at a press conference to discuss PUTA’s achievements, as the elections to key posts in the Association will be conducted on August 21.
If elected, Gill would be PUTA president for the third time.
In a statement, the PUTA president said that, under her, PUTA had stood up for upholding the dignity of teachers and ensured Ph.D. increments from UGC.
On re-election, Gill would focus on recruitment of faculty is the need of the hour and strategizing for the grant of Central University Status for the University.
