SCHOOL NOTESChandigarh: Students and teachers of Adarsh Public Smart School (APS-20), Sector 20 B, Chandigarh celebrated combined Independence Day and Raksha Bandhan in the school premises today. Students presented a play on the theme based on Independence, also sung patriotic songs and poems on the auspicious occasion. Students sent Independence Day cards and Rakhis to BSF jawans and also tied Rakhi on their hands. Government School- 50, ChandigarhStudents of Government High Smart School, Sector-50B, Chandigarh, celebrated 73rd Independence Day. About 70 children in the age group of 5-10 years from 22 different schools of Chandigarh and Mohali participated in the event.

Government School- 50, Chandigarh Students of Government High Smart School, Sector-50B, Chandigarh, celebrated 73rd Independence Day. Headmistress Jasbir Kaur started the day with unfurling of the National Flag. This was followed by the national Aanthem. A welcome speech was delivered by stage secretary Sarika Sood followed by a cultural programme by the students. The ceremony concluded by giving prizes to all the participants by Jasbir kaur. Sweets were distributed among the gathering at the end of the function. TNS Bhavan Vidyalaya, Panchkula Bhavan Vidyalaya,Panchkula, celebrated its annual prize distribution function, aptly titled ‘Medha Manyata Divas’ to acknowledge and appreciate the young talent who made an immense contribution to the school and society. The award ceremony was based on the theme ‘saawan’. The chairman Shri Kulwant Singh, along with other esteemed members of the management committee, was present to inspire and honour the achievers. Janmashtami celebrations Chandigarh: In order to inspire devotion in the hearts of kids, a unique fancy dress programme was organised by the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) as a part of the celebration on account of Sri Krishna Janmashtami festival. About 70 children in the age group of 5-10 years from 22 different schools of Chandigarh and Mohali participated in the event. Dressed in vibrant attires, the children portrayed different characters from the Ramayan and Mahabharat. Hundreds of devotees in ISKCON temple viewed and encouraged the children. TNS
