US experts give tips on cancer care

Tribune News ServiceChandigarh, August 20A two-member team from the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) recently visited the PGIMER. Last year, a memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed between the PGIMER and ASCO to improve cancer care services as well as training and research in the field at the PGIMER. The focus of the team — Kristine B LeFebvre from Oncology Nursing Society, Pittsburgh (USA), and Lori Buswell, Executive Director, Centre for Global Cancer Medicine, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, Boston (USA) — was to interact with the faculty and students of the National Institute of Nursing Education and in-service nurses at the PGI. Dr Navneet Singh, Additional Professor of Pulmonary Medicine, said as one of the aims of this collaboration was to educate nurses and supportive staff involved in cancer care, both members of the ASCO team were nursing professionals with a vast experience in oncology nursing. The week-long visit provided the team with an opportunity to visit all areas involved with cancer care at the PGIMER.
