Theft of mobiles at petrol pump

BRIEFLYChandigarh: A thief reportedly made off with six mobile phones from HP Petrol Pump in Sector 20 on the intervening night of September 13 and 14. According to the police, Sandeep Kumar, who works as a helper at the petrol pump, reported that six mobile phones of petrol pump workers were stolen from a room at the pump. The police were informed following which a case was registered at the Sector 19 police station. TNS 3 attacked at Maloya village Chandigarh: Three persons, including a father-son duo, were allegedly attacked by their neighbours at Maloya village. According to the police, complainant Naresh Kumar, a resident of Maloya village, reported that his son Kunal and nephew Bhupinder Singh were attacked with a sickle by Bharat Bhushan, Himanshu, Abhishek and others. The victims were injured after which the police were informed, who initiated an inquiry. A case under Sections 323, 452, 506 and 34 of the IPC has been registered against the suspects at the Maloya police station. TNS Patiala: Makhan Singh, a resident of Shekhupura village, was allegedly shot at by Sukhbir Singh, a resident of Nabha village, following a land dispute. While the victim has been hospitalised, the cops were conducting raids to arrest the accused. Victim’s cousin in his complaint to the police said Makhan received a phone call on Saturday evening from Sukhbir, who threatened his cousin. “Makhan was so terrorised that he went for a medical check-up. While returning, Sukhbir and his accomplice forcibly stopped his vehicle and fired at him. The shot pierced through his bicep,” said the complainant. A case under Sections 341, 307, 506 and 34 of the IPC has been registered against the accused. TNS Engineers’ Day celebrated Patiala: Aryans College of Engineering, Rajpura, celebrated Engineers’ Day on Sunday. A seminar was organised on energy conservation through green buildings. Er Gurbakshish Singh, Associate Professor, Government Polytechnic College for Girls, Patiala, was the guest speaker. Students of civil, mechanical, ECE, CSE and EE participated in the session. The students and staff of the college also participated in various activities, including innovative projects, paper presentation, word hunt and engineering quiz, among others. Gurbakshish said, “Green buildings influence our climate and overall ecosystem by reducing water use and energy sources that pollute environment such as coal and carbon dioxide discharge into the atmosphere. Green buildings are environment-friendly and cost-efficient.” TNS Man ends life Kharar: An unidentified man aged between 25 to 30 years committed suicide by jumping before a train near Bhagomajra village on Sunday. Assistant Sub-Inspector Manohar Lal, In-charge, Railway Police Post, said the victim committed suicide by jumping before a train heading from Amritsar to Chandigarh. TNS
