2-day immunisation round: Over 76,000 kids given polio drops

Tribune News ServiceChandigarh, September 16Nearly 76,822 children were immunised during the two-day Sub-National Immunisation Round (SNID) against polio in the UT on September 15 and 16. Approximately, 80 supervisors monitored the activity for which 602 teams (each team comprising two members) of vaccinators were deployed for house-to-house visits. The teams visited the vulnerable areas, including Khuda Lahora, Khuda Jassu, Sarangpur, Resettlement Colony Dhanas, Kaimbwala, Maloya, Daddu Majra, Madrasi Colony, Indira Colony, Bapudham, Mauli village, Vikas Nagar, Mani Majra, Colony No. 4, Faidan, Hallo Majra, Ram Darbar, Attawa, Palsora, Behlana, Raipur Khurd, Kajheri, Kishangarh, Dariya, Tin Colony, Janta Colony, Bhagwanpura, Citco, Shastri Nagar and all construction sites to immunise kids with pulse polio drops. To carry out immunisation, five teams were also deputed from 8 pm to 11pm on September 15.

Chandigarh, September 16 Nearly 76,822 children were immunised during the two-day Sub-National Immunisation Round (SNID) against polio in the UT on September 15 and 16. Approximately, 80 supervisors monitored the activity for which 602 teams (each team comprising two members) of vaccinators were deployed for house-to-house visits. The teams were fully geared up to vaccinate all children upto five years in the high risk areas along with those on roads and streets. The monitoring was done under the supervision of Dr G Dewan, Director Health and Family Welfare-cum-Mission Director, NHM and other officials. The teams visited the vulnerable areas, including Khuda Lahora, Khuda Jassu, Sarangpur, Resettlement Colony Dhanas, Kaimbwala, Maloya, Daddu Majra, Madrasi Colony, Indira Colony, Bapudham, Mauli village, Vikas Nagar, Mani Majra, Colony No. 4, Faidan, Hallo Majra, Ram Darbar, Attawa, Palsora, Behlana, Raipur Khurd, Kajheri, Kishangarh, Dariya, Tin Colony, Janta Colony, Bhagwanpura, Citco, Shastri Nagar and all construction sites to immunise kids with pulse polio drops. To carry out immunisation, five teams were also deputed from 8 pm to 11pm on September 15. Approximate 231 children were immunised during the night hours in different parts of the city. To maintain the polio free status with 100% immunisation, the Health Department has appealed to all city residents to co-operate and get all children in the age group of one month to five years vaccinated against polio. Dr G Dewan appreciated the efforts and motivation of all volunteers, who participated in the campaign and thanked the teams for their tireless efforts.
