BRIEFLY Chandigarh: A PCR vehicle was issued a TVIS (traffic violation information slip) for zebra crossing violation on Monday. The police received a picture of the violation on their social media account following which they issued a challan. Under the new provisions, the cop who was driving the PCR vehicle will have to pay double the fine for the offence. TNS Boy killed in road mishap Panchkula: A 16-year-old boy, who was riding pillion on his friend's scooter, was killed after their two-wheeler collided with a car near Amravati Enclave here on Saturday. The deceased has been identified as Krish Podar, a resident of the same colony. According to the complainant, Umesh Attri, whose son Rishit was riding the scooter, said the incident took place around 6 pm on Saturday night when his son's scooter was hit by a rashly driven car. "Following the accident, both victims were taken to a hospital, where Podar was declared brought dead by the doctors. The other victim was seriously injured and is undergoing treatment at the intensive care unit of the hospital," the FIR read. The accused, who fled the spot after the accident, was arrested yesterday and produced in a local court. A case against the accused under Sections 279, 337, 304-A and 427 of the IPC was registered. TNS Chandigarh: The UT police have arrested a resident of Uttar Pradesh while possessing 2,200 banned capsules. According to the police, the suspect, identified as Shah Nawaj of Saharanpur district, UP, was arrested from near the Poultry Farm chowk, on September 15. A case has been registered against the suspect under the NDPS Act at the Industrial Area police station. TNS Chandigarh: The UT police registered a cross FIR after a pedestrian and an Activa rider and his friends attacked each other following arguments over the issue of driving scooter rashly at Dadu Majra Colony (DMC) on Sunday. The police said Babrik, a resident of DMC, had alleged that suspect Jeevan from the same locality was driving scooter rashly to which he objected. In return, the suspect accompanied by his friends Gogu and Denny attacked him with bricks near the Government School, DMC. Babrik was left injured and was admitted to the Government Multi-Specialty Hospital (GMSH), Sector 16. Meanwhile, Jeevan in his complaint to the police alleged that Babrik, along with his friend Shyam, attacked him with sharp weapon leaving him injured. Jeevan was also admitted to the GMSH-16. Acting on both complaints, the police registered a case under Sections 324 and 34 of the IPC at the Maloya police station. TNS Man goes missing Zirakpur: A New Delhi-based resident has gone missing under mysterious circumstances. The police have started investigation following a missing complaint lodged by the victim’s wife. The complainant told police that on September 11 her husband left home for Chandigarh around 7.40 am, but did not return home. The complainant had alleged that she talked to her husband on September 13 who told her that he would reach Delhi in the evening. When the victim did not reach home, his wife came to Zirakpur in search of him. The police have registered a case in this connection and started investigations. TNS One held for minor’s rape Ambala: The district police have arrested Anil Kumar for raping and threatening a local woman with dire consequences, the officials said on Monday. According to police, the victim had reported to the cops on September 7 that the accused had raped and threatened her with dire consequences. The accused was remanded to 14-day judicial custody by a local court, the officials added. TNS Man arrested with 498 vials Ambala: The district police have arrested Raj Kumar, alias, Raju, of Ambala Sadar, and claimed to have recovered 498 intoxicant injections from his possession, the officials said on Monday. According to police, the suspect was arrested following a tip-off on Hisar Road and his search yielded 498 injections. The suspect was produced before a local court, which sent him to two-day police custody, the officials added. TNS Proclaimed offender held Ambala: The district police have arrested a proclaimed offender Rohit, a resident of Baldev Nagar, wanted in a criminal case registered against him at Ambala Sadar police station, the officials said on Monday. According to police, Rohit was evading arrest ever since he was booked in a criminal case following a local court had declared him proclaimed offender. Rohit was sent to 14-day judicial custody by a local court, the officials added. TNS Man assaulted, abducted Ambala: The dAmbala: Arjun Singh, a resident of the Ambala Cantonment, has reported to the police that his 23-year-old brother Saurabh, alias, Mau, was assaulted and abducted by four local residents on September 13. According to information, the complainant had alleged that Tand, Lokesh, Chiri and Shiva had assaulted and abducted his younger brother last week. The police have registered a case against the accused and launched a manhunt to trace Saurabh. TNS
