UT recommends names of 4 docs for Padma awards

Tribune News ServiceChandigarh, September 18The Chandigarh Administration has recommended three doctors from the PGI and one from the Government Medical College and Hospital, Sector 32, to the Centre for the Padma awards. The four doctors are Dr BS Chavan, Director-Principal, Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Sector 32; Dr Anil Bhansali, Head of Endocrinology Department, PGI; Dr Digambar Behera of Pulmonary Medicine Department, PGI; and Dr Akshay Anand, Professor, Department of Neurology, PGI. The Centre has invited recommendations from the states and UTs and final decision will be taken by a high-level committee. The awards are announced on the occasion of Republic Day every year.
