Mandeep to lead Punjab in Vijay Hazare Trophy

Young Abhishek Sharma, Prabhsimran Singh and Ramandeep Singh will form the batting line up along with experienced Gurkeert Singh Mann, Sharad Lumba and skipper Mandeep Singh, Kapoor said, adding that Anmol Malhotra will shoulder the responsibility of wicketkeeper. The programme is mandatory for all cricketers and support staff ahead of the domestic season, the PCA added.

Punjab, which has been placed in Elite B group, will start their campaign against Himachal Pradesh on September 25, followed by matches against Vidarbha on September 26, Maharashtra on September 29, Delhi on October 1, Haryana on October 5, Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association on October 9, hosts Baroda on October 11 and Odisha on October 13, Punjab Cricket Association said here today. The team led by Mandeep Singh is a mix of experience and youth, said PCA spokesperson Sushil Kapoor. The pace attack will led by Siddharth Kaul, and supported by Sandeep Sharma and Baltej Singh, while off spinner Akul Partap Pandove, left-arm spinner Karan Kaila and leg-spinner Mayank Markande will manage the spin department. Munish Bali will be the coach of the team. The team is scheduled to leave for Baroda on September 22. The PCA in a media release stated that 140 people, including women cricketers, attended the workshop. The programme is mandatory for all cricketers and support staff ahead of the domestic season, the PCA added.
