Patiala, October 13 In view of the construction of illegal buildings and as a measure to control the practice, Municipal Corporation Commissioner Poonamdeep Kaur said the owners of under-construction buildings have to paste the construction plan at the site. She said the officials in the Municipal Corporation (MC) had been directed to pull-up their socks and keep an eye on the construction of illegal buildings in their specific areas. While the policy of Punjab one-time voluntary disclosure and settlement of building constructed in violation of the building bye-laws lapsed as per the offered time of three months from February to May, the construction of buildings by flouting the building construction laws continue unabated. Recently, the Municipal Corporation had sent a notice to owners of a building for construction in violation of building byelaws. Officials in the department said the owners were directed to remove certain constructions which were in violation of the construction plan. The officials of the Fire Safety Department said, “Many commercial buildings are constructed in the city in violation of the building construction plans sanctioned by the department. Therefore, we are unable to provide the fire-safety certificates when the owners of the buildings apply to our department for sanctions.
