Four more STPs to come up in district

Meanwhile, 7 treatment plants have already been set up in the district. Deputy Commissioner Kumar Amit today said the administration would not allow industries to directly flow sewage into the Ghaggar. District Administration officials today said none of the industrial units would be allowed to pollute the waters of the Ghaggar as per directions of the National Green Tribunal. Deputy Commissioner Kumar Amit said treatment plants were already running in Rajpura, Samana and Patran.

Patiala, October 16 The state government will set up 4 sewage treatment plants (STPs) to clean the sewerage of the Municipal Corporation and councils in the district. Meanwhile, 7 treatment plants have already been set up in the district. Deputy Commissioner Kumar Amit today said the administration would not allow industries to directly flow sewage into the Ghaggar. While the Military Engineering Service (MES) is installing two sewage treatment plants of 6 million litres per day (MLD) capacity in Patiala and Nabha, while the treatment plant at Sher Majra village in Patiala is being upgraded from 46 MLD to 61 MLD capacity. District Administration officials today said none of the industrial units would be allowed to pollute the waters of the Ghaggar as per directions of the National Green Tribunal. Deputy Commissioner Kumar Amit said treatment plants were already running in Rajpura, Samana and Patran. He said the government had planned to set up plants in Bhadson, Sanaur, Nabha and Ghanaur. The Deputy Commissioner said CCTV cameras need to be fixed at all industrial units, which should further be linked to the Punjab Pollution Control Board and the Central Pollution Control Board offices.
