PU students oppose protest site

Tribune News ServiceChandigarh, October 21Seven student organisations of the PU — AISA, ASA, AFSS, SATH, PSU (LALKAR), SFI and SFS — today protested against the decision of the PU authorities, designating the Old Parade Ground as the place for future protests. The organisations requested the PU authorities to immediately withdraw the decision and restore the democratic setup of the university. The DUI and officiating Vice-Chancellor Shankarji Jha said: “We had issued the notification on September 27 and will ask the protesting students as to where else do they want to protest if not the Old Parade Ground. Though PU VC Prof Raj Kumar is not in town, I have also conveyed the students’ concerns to him. He will take the final decision.”Want dispensary in South CampusStudents of PU South Campus have written to the Vice-Chancellor, requesting a dispensary and night food shops on the campus.

He will take the final decision.” Want dispensary in South Campus Students of PU South Campus have written to the Vice-Chancellor, requesting a dispensary and night food shops on the campus. They claimed that more than 3,000 students are a harried lot due to lack of facilities. The request letter was signed by over a dozen students, including Nikhil Narmeta, who was contesting for the post of president in the recent PUCSC elections.
