Mohali, November 13 While the Mohali Municipal Corporation has been spending crores on the maintenance of roads, the stretches in the town’s industrial area are virtually crying for attention. A random survey of certain parts of the industrial area showed poor condition of roads, particularly in Phase 3 and 6 of the Industrial Area. The roads are dotted with potholes, have broken kerbs and uneven surface. “It’s a nightmare to travel on these roads,” said a commuter. “The roads are dotted with potholes. Several pits could be found filled with mud and water,” said Rakesh Kumar, an employee of a factory located in the area. Another localite Surinder Singh, who works in a private company here, said the things got worst during rainy days. “Waterlogging on most of the roads in the area is a common sight due to poor drainage system. One could easily imagine plight of commuters, mainly the two-wheeler riders,” said Surinder Singh. Councillor Ashok Jha said the issue has been raised in MC House meetings several times. “Maintenance of roads in Phase 3 and 6 of local industrial area is the responsibility of the Mohali Municipal Corporation. Despite, raising the issue time and again, the repair work is yet to start,” said Jha.
